Frequently Asked Questions
Find the most common questions about our equine-facilitated psychotherapy services answered below.
What is Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP)?
EFP is a form of trauma-informed mental health therapy that incorporates interactions with horses into the therapeutic process. Sessions are led by a licensed therapist and an equine specialist, helping clients build trust, regulate emotions, and process trauma in a safe, experiential way.
Do I need horse experience to participate?
Not at all! No prior horse experience is necessary. Our sessions are ground-based (no riding) and are designed to meet you where you are—emotionally and physically. Safety and comfort are always prioritized.
Where are you located?
We currently offer services at multiple sites across Central Florida, including Volusia, Lake, and Orange Counties. Locations are by appointment only.
Can I sponsor a client or therapy horse?
Yes! We offer sponsorship opportunities for individuals, businesses, and organizations who want to support our clients or help care for our therapy horses.
What are the benefits of EFP?
EFP offers a unique, experiential path to healing that supports emotional, psychological, and relational growth. Benefits may include:
-
Improved emotional regulation and self-awareness
-
Reduced symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression
-
Increased trust, boundaries, and communication skills
-
Enhanced connection with self and others
-
Grounding and stress relief through interaction with horses and nature
Horses respond honestly and nonjudgmentally, making them powerful partners in the therapeutic process—especially for those who struggle to open up in traditional therapy settings.
